Slipped Disc Herniation Can Cause Back Pain

Disc herniation is often caused by relative inactivity and then suddenly lifting something heavy. If you do not stretch and move your body at all, the connective tissue is not lubricated and as flexible as it should be. Your muscles are too tight and they are also too weak to lift heavy objects. If your back muscles are weak, more pressure is put in the spine than if you had a strong back.

When a disc slips our, or herniates, the lubricating fluid that is cushioning the disc can leak out on to the nerves. The nerves are then irritated and then cause the muscles to go into a spasm.

You can have a herniated disc with no pain, or with pain. You can also have pain, but no disc herniation. To have a herniated disc is very common and most people do not even know they have this problem.

The disc herniation can be so bad that normal nerve flow from the spine to the legs is cut off and there is a problem with walking. Slipped discs are very painful and one of the worst things you can have happen.

If you have a slipped disc, it is likely that your other spinal discs are also in bad condition. I usually recommend glucosamine to be taken over several months to repair the connective tissue. It is common to have other joints have issues as well, if your back has connective tissue problems.

Be sure to get glucosamine SULFATE, not HCL. This is derived from shellfish and is the type that has been well researched. If you buy a combination formula, I do not suggest including fish oil. Fish oil is also a natural anti-inflammatory, but it is usually rancid. Once the oil is rancid, it can damage your body. Put into a formula with other supplements, it is more likely to go rancid.
